Microsoft Band SDK Preview now is available for iOS, adding to the Windows and Android SDK. The Microsoft Band SDK provides the downloadable SDKs which includes sample code and access to additional resources including release notes, guidelines on experience design, and documentation.

The SDK Preview gives developers access to the sensors available on the band, as well as the ability to create and send notifications to tiles. Developers can create apps that can send UI content to the band and an app can also receive data directly from the band sensors, giving users more opportunity to interact with it. The range of sensors includes heart rate, UV, accelerometer, gyroscope, and skin temperature, as well as fitness data.

The Microsoft Band SDK Preview provides:

- Real-time access to sensor data from one or more Microsoft Bands
- Allows creating Tiles on a Microsoft Band, and sending notifications to them
- Allows changing the Theme for the Band
- Allows changing the main Tile background image
