SuperTeam Games has raised $10M in funding to develop blockchain-enhanced sports games that utilize the technology to create rich, player-first experiences, enabling features such as embeddable token wallets, non-fungible tokens (NFT) minting and selling, creating thriving economies, and a lot more.

Independent games studio SuperTeam Games has raised $10 million in its first round of funding to develop cross-platform sports games that utilize blockchain technology.

The financing was led by Griffin Gaming Partners, other investors include Powerhouse Capital, and individual contributors such as former Disney CEO Michael Eisner and MLS franchise owners Steve Kaplan and Bennett Rosenthal. SuperTeam’s games will be powered by Forte as part of a strategic partnership.

SuperTeam Games raised $10M to create blockchain enhanced sports games

Industry veterans Jerome Collin, Mike Saperstein, Sam Sheth, and Andre Taube founded SuperTeam Games with the goal of developing a new kind of sports game enhanced by blockchain integration. Bringing what they learned from their successes at Glu Mobile and backed by decades of experience in the gaming space, they will use this investment to introduce new concepts to the genre.

Griffin Gaming Partners has over $1 billion in asset management, bringing decades of critical industry expertise and know-how. Griffin’s Managing Director, Peter Levin, has joined the Board of Directors at SuperTeam Games.

"We look for the rare combination of innovative thinking, operational expertise, and industry knowledge that typically underpins success, and are delighted to have found it in the SuperTeam Games leadership team of industry expert founders. Web3 and blockchain technology brings new monetization and digital asset ownership to players, which we believe is one of the most important technological advancements in the history of games," said Peter Levin, Managing Director of Griffin Gaming Partners and SuperTeam Games Board Member.

SuperTeam Games' partnership with Forte provides access to innovative blockchain technology to create rich, player-first experiences. Forte’s platform seamlessly integrates blockchain technologies into games, enabling features such as embeddable token wallets, and non-fungible token (NFT) minting and selling, and provides services to create thriving economies in a secure and compliant way.

SuperTeam Games has built a team of more than 25 proficient developers bringing experience from industry heavyweights Disney, Zynga, EA, Ubisoft, SEGA, 3DO, GLU, Konami, Wizards of the Coast, and Capcom. The company’s first game will launch with a closed Beta this summer.

"The established sports gaming franchises are decades old and haven’t evolved much. We are working on building a new generation of fast-paced sports games where users will find a truly unique online multiplayer experience. We are very happy with how development is progressing and we can’t wait for the sports fans out there to play what we’ve been working on," said Jerome Collin, CEO of SuperTeam Games.
