Backed by £555K raised in only three weeks, uRoutine prepares to debut its AI-powered app that helps users build habits in five minutes a day, with 3,500+ eager users waiting.

uRoutine, a productivity-focused social network platform, has secured £555,000 in seed funding to support the development and rollout of its AI-assisted app. The investment, raised in approximately three weeks, came largely from angel investors connected to the founders’ earlier venture, PushFar. The new funds will be used to build product features, expand marketing efforts, and grow both consumer and business channels.

Funding and investors behind uRoutine

uRoutine’s seed round brought in £555,000, primarily from angel backers who supported founders Ed Johnson and Gabriel Sirbu in their previous business. PushFar, their prior venture, was acquired by ScaleUp Capital in June 2023.

Among those participating in the round are Timothy Hely Hutchinson CBE (former CEO of Hachette UK), Tom Weldon (CEO of Penguin Books UK), Glynn Woodin (founder of Mustard Foods and Mustard Catering), and Paddy Dear (co-founder of Tetragon Financial Management).

Johnson and Sirbu view this funding as enabling early growth as uRoutine transitions from concept to full deployment.

Platform concept and feature set

uRoutine aims to address productivity and wellbeing challenges associated with remote work and digital distraction. The app is designed to let users create, share, copy, and track routines. It also supports forming connections with friends, family, and trusted experts such as personal trainers and healthcare professionals.

Key features include:

  • Gamification elements to incentivize consistency
  • AI productivity reporting and insights to help users understand patterns
  • Social interactivity, enabling encouragement, shared progress, and community support

uRoutine is free to access globally, with a promise of impact in a minimal daily time commitment. According to the company, the goal is to help users “achieve more and scroll less,” aligning with a growing interest in digital balance and reduced screen dependency.

Early traction and user acquisition

Between May and July 2025, uRoutine attracted more than 3,500 pre-registered users. This early interest suggests a base of potential feedback and early adopters ahead of a wider platform launch. Described as a “productive social network,” the service aims to position itself as an alternative to traditional social media by centering habit formation rather than passive content consumption.

Strategy for growth and monetization

With the newly secured capital, uRoutine plans to invest in product development and marketing. The long-term intention is to introduce both consumer and business models. On the consumer side, the platform may remain free or freemium; on the business side, uRoutine envisions a solution for organizations seeking to boost employee productivity. It also plans to offer brands a way to engage consumers who are actively aligning around habits, routines, and goal tracking.

Johnson has noted that the broader social media environment often leaves users unfocused or distracted. He said that the speed of fundraising and early user interest show there is a demand for “a more productive alternative to social media.” He also linked uRoutine’s potential to combining social impact with commercial viability.

Timothy Hely Hutchinson, one of the investors, observed that uRoutine aligns with a cultural shift toward digital balance and more purposeful technology use. He praised the founders’ prior track record in building platforms and cited the dual nature of the product—helping users while offering scalability.

Challenges and considerations ahead

Launching a social productivity platform faces several challenges. First, user retention is crucial: habit formation tools must maintain long-term engagement rather than short bursts of interest. Second, balancing free access with monetization will be delicate, especially if users expect high value from core features. Third, competition from existing productivity, wellness, and habit-tracking apps is intense; differentiation through social features and AI insights may be key.

The business side also presents hurdles: to persuade organizations to adopt uRoutine for workforce productivity, the platform must demonstrate measurable impact and integration with existing workflows. Moreover, privacy, data security, and compliance will be pivotal, particularly when dealing with health, behavior, and habit data.

What the platform could mean for users and organizations

For individual users, uRoutine hopes to shift the narrative from passive consumption to intentional routine building. The combination of social accountability and AI feedback may help people adopt healthier patterns of behavior and reduce the time spent aimlessly scrolling.
