The smart contract language changes for Partisia Blockchain to Rust and Wasm to create a better experience for developers, and expand compatibility with Secure Multi-Party Computation.

Partisia Blockchain has announced that it has updated its smart contract language to Rust and Wasm (WebAssembly).

Partisia Blockchain represents the first successful complete integration of Secure Multi-Party Computation (MPC) and blockchain technology. The adoption of Rust and Wasm is designed to facilitate a smooth and more efficient experience for developers, as well as increased compatibility with multi-party computation (MPC), which works through a network of computation nodes that compute directly on encrypted data while maintaining zero-knowledge about the data itself, and other types of zero-knowledge computation.

Smart contract language changes

"Moving to this new smart contract language demonstrates our commitment to ensuring privacy is at the cornerstone of everything we do at Partisia Blockchain. To facilitate the ongoing creation of privacy-preserving products within our ecosystem, we need a language that easily integrates with MPC technology, whilst also facilitating the everyday needs of our developers," said Kurt Nielsen, Co-Founder of Partisia Blockchain.

"This update marks a significant milestone along our roadmap development plan. As well as facilitating a more developer-friendly experience that is stable, secure and easy to navigate, the language is effectively aligned with the privacy-preserving ethos of Partisia Blockchain. Carefully orchestrated to protect our existing infrastructure, the change in language will happen on a step by step basis to help us navigate between our two main objectives: onboarding as many interesting applications as possible, whilst also enabling a smooth transition to the new language," said Peter Frands Frandsen, Chief Technology Officer at Partisia Blockchain.
