New MIPS Creator CI20 Development Board By Imagination Technologies

A new microcomputer, the MIPS Creator CI20 development board by Imagination Technologies Limited for Android and Linux users is finally here. The release of the MIPS Creator CI20 development board even generated so much interest that the company’s site crashed due to the intensity of the pressure.

Creator is a new program that was created as low cost development systems for use by the open source community. Users can develop applications using the company’s IP technologies. All of Imagination Technologies SoC IP processors are included: MIPS, PowerVR and Ensigma. MIPS Creator CI20.

The technology development board also has rich communications and multimedia capabilities. MIPS Creator CI20 includes an HDMI connector and an external 5V power supply. Creator has a fast Ethernet connection and is one of the few development boards available on the market which offers both high-speed Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n) and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity.

Multimedia features include OpenGL ES 2.0-capable PowerVR SGX540 GPU and dedicated video hardware. There are also two USB ports (EHCI and OTG) and peripheral I/Os (GPIO, SPI, I2C, infrared, JTAG, etc.).

The MIPS Creator CI20 development board is available for only $65. The Creator CI20 boards are available for purchase directly from the company’s store and are available for pre-order. North America and Europe are the first regions to receive the board in late January, followed by a gradual rollout to other regions.

The Creator CI20 is a new microcomputer for IoT, mobile, wearable and more. The CI20 introduces more features such as improved processor, more memory, wider connectivity span and better OS support to open source developers, students, makers and hobbyists.
