Apple Developers can no longer use the word memory in app titles

Monday, December 10, 2012

The next big app idea you might have better not contain the word "memory" in the app title so says Apple.
Believe it or not the word memory as relating to a game is copywritten by a company out of Germany. This seems a bit crazy to me since you shouldn't be able to copyright such a common word,  but Apple says it's a valid claim and is backing them up on it.
Even if you have an app already in the app store you're being asked to rename your memory named app.

The count is over 50 apps that have the word memory in their title and unless they comply with Apple's request, including those in the United States – the apps will just quietly disappear from the app store.
