Gondola Launches Liftpass an Open Source Platform to Help Developers Manage Game Monetization

Gondola, the creators of the Dynamic Pricing Engine for mobile games, has announced the beta release of Liftpass, an open source platform for game developers to manage and track the prices of virtual goods and in-app purchases (IAPs).

The full-stack solution offers SDKs for iOS, Android and Unity, and the tracking of in-game metrics and in-game currencies can be fully customized to fit the unique needs of each game. Liftpass provides not only a data, but also the levers for developers to begin adjusting in-game prices in real-time to boost player engagement and overall lifetime value.

Offering a starting point for game developers to test their theories on the effects of pricing, the API, which is fully controllable by code, will be made available at Liftpass portal. Developers will be able to download Liftpass free of charge and launch their own instance of Liftpass on their own server.

While searching for the ideal price requires continuous price testing and adjustments based on player behavior and response, Liftpass gives mobile game developers way to track and experiment with in-game pricing and test different prices for different segments of players for the very first time – all the way down to creating a custom set of prices for an individual player.

Additionally, Liftpass allows developers to fully integrate with other solutions, including Gondola’s own Dynamic Pricing Engine, which can automatically serve the right price to the right player at the right time without the need for any additional code integration.

“Gondola was built for the freemium gaming model and we’re now supporting the growth of the community through our open source initiative,” said Niklas Herriger, co-founder and CEO of Gondola. “By giving game developers easily accessible tools for customizing and managing their in-game prices, we’re allowing them to unlock an additional layer of game optimization without the need of engaging in the time-consuming effort of developing a pricing infrastructure themselves.”

Gondola’s open source price management platform can be used by a developer to test thousands of prices simultaneously, allowing them to specifically target individual players or subsets of players to glean further insights into the effect of price on in-game progression and player lifetime value. By allowing open access to its price management platform, Gondola aims to change the way games are monetized while fostering faster innovation and community participation.

“Developers have always been cautious about changing the prices of virtual goods and IAPs after the initial launch of their game,” said Andre Cohen, co-founder and CTO of Gondola. “Liftpass is the perfect solution for anyone who has ever wondered about the impact of pricing on the game experience for players. By providing a ready-to-go price management infrastructure to the game developer community, we hope to encourage more developers to participate in championing against the dated one-price-fits-all model.”
