Udacity Blitz aims to connect companies with top engineers

Udacity Blitz is announcing a new service directly connecting companies with top engineers who develop and fully manage custom software projects. Udacity Blitz teams build mobile apps, websites, and data services for innovative companies that need to move fast and get quality results. Companies have the option to hire Udacity Blitz engineers (called Blitzers) for their teams at any time, with no restrictions or fees.

Udacity Blitz gives Nanodegree program alumni new opportunities to apply their skills, add to their resumes, and earn money, while at the same time presenting clients with direct access to the best talent, and a clear path to hire that talent for their teams.
The Gig Economy

The job market is changing dramatically. By the year 2020, more than 40 percent of the American workforce, or 60 million people, will be independent workers—freelancers, contractors, and temporary employees, according to the Intuit 2020 report. McKinsey estimates that 162 million people in Europe and the United States (20-30% of workers) engage in some form of independent work today.

By offering a transparent business model in which companies get to know their engineering teams and have the ability to hire them with no fees, Udacity Blitz helps both engineers and employers benefit from this rapidly changing landscape.

How Udacity Blitz Works

Companies propose a project via blitz.com. Udacity Blitz provides a fixed price estimate, staffs a customized team, and guarantees the work or 100 percent is refunded. A project manager makes sure the project is completed on time, and communicates frequently throughout the process. Companies enjoy full visibility into the project, and build working relationships with Udacity Blitzers. Once the project is complete, companies have the option to continue working with the team on new projects, or to hire the engineers full-time.

This announcement comes on the heels of a series of new Udacity Nanodegree programs in areas like Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality, and Self-Driving Cars, which give students the ability to learn cutting-edge skills and connects them with employers like Mercedes Benz and IBM Watson. With this launch, Udacity underscores its commitment to connecting great talent to great jobs—on Udacity Blitz projects, and beyond.
