How DevOps will change in 2021

Saturday, January 9, 2021

Austin Harris Austin Harris

Rick Negrin, VP of Product Management at SingleStore predicts that DevOps will change in 2021, becoming more security-aware protecting against vulnerabilities, IT Ops and DevOps teams will reorient their processes, and DevOps will have artificial intelligence integrated into the toolchain more often.

DevOps will become much more security-aware. We’ll see greater attention paid to the newly expanded surface area created in the practice of DevOps and how to proactively protect against vulnerabilities in DevOps.

How DevOps will change in 2021 and the Impact from it

First, IT Ops and DevOps teams will need to reorient their processes to one that unifies the vulnerability data across their multi-cloud, hybrid, and on-premises environments. Secondly, they need that unified view to be real-time to quickly identify new vulnerabilities and respond to them.

How organizations can adapt

Before updating or deploying new systems and DevOps automation, DevOps teams will have to incorporate the security and vulnerability data collection as well as monitoring into the strategy.

DevOps and AI

DevOps will see AI integrated into the DevOps toolchain more frequently. This will be applied to improve root-cause analysis and provide better signals to application development teams for improvement areas.

Rick Negrin

Rick Negrin oversees product strategy and management at SingleStore. Prior to SingleStore, he spent 12 years at Microsoft leading teams for SQL Server and Azure SQL Database. Rick holds a bachelor’s of science in computer engineering from the University of Washington.
