When we sat in on the famo.us presentation at Appsworld this year, it was obvious to us they were onto something good for mobile developers. A lightweight java based framework that uses HTML5 as the front end, and can pull off programming miracles with ease, including GPU based 3D rendering. But until it's officially released there has a big question mark over the price tag associated with releasing the solution to developers, until now. With over 25,000 developers signed up for the beta, they now have the answer.

It seems some "unnamed giant" hardware investors have stepped up to make the solution available to all, for free! It comes as a bit of a surprise because they could technically charge for it and developers would likely form a line to be the first to use it, but my guess is the "hardware giants" are wanting to see HTML5 win over vs. native programming.
