Mitek is extending the use of its Mobile Imaging Platform to developers interested in creating new mobile applications using the smartphone or tablet camera. Even better, Mitek is also prepared to make multiple seed investments totaling up to $1 million US in developers who can identify substantial market opportunities using the mobile imaging platform.

Through the Mitek platform developers are able to create apps that capture information from checks, drivers licenses, bill coupons, vehicle identification numbers and any information printed within four corners. In the coming months, Mitek will also make its signature validation API available to developers.

The Mobile Imaging Platform is comprised of a 4-stage imaging process: Mobile Capture, Enhance, Extract and Enrich. It provides all the elements for delivering a superior user experience by ensuring the quality images and data accuracy to optimize mobile applications.

The MiSnap SDK is the mobile capture component of Mitek's Mobile Imaging Platform. MiSnap provides real-time feedback to the user until a suitable image is detected, at which point it automatically captures the image. MiSnap is preloaded with sample guide images to give users context while learning the mobile capture experience. All designs are configurable by the developer.

The SKD offers built in device benchmarking where a benchmark test automatically detects the optimal image capture mode and sets the device accordingly. This creates user success regardless of mobile device type. MiSnap automatically turns on the camera torch when lighting is low enabling the user to capture a quality image successfully in all environments. Auto-torch timing and behavior are configurable for the developer.

MiSnap also detects when users attempt to tap the screen to take a picture. It then takes them to a help screen describing the auto capture features. It also collects abandonment and device data which is sent to the developer to be used for ongoing app improvement.
