Security architecture for 5G has been announced by Cisco in a recent blog post.
Cisco recently released a blog post talking about how Cisco’s new 5G security architecture is combining artificial intelligence and deep learning to create a network that will orchestrate both physical and virtual resources with equal proficiency resulting in optimal network efficiencies. Network and context information is being automated through the use of shared telemetry and cloud-processing to lower the time to detect and respond in a way that others cannot match. With this unique approach, Cisco has successfully lowered the time to detection from the industry average of 100 to 200 days to as low as four hours.
5G services promise to offer emerging new services at significantly faster speeds, expanded capacity and stronger coverage to accommodate the more than 27 billion connected devices expected on service provider networks by 2021. Beginning 2020, 5G connections will grow more than a thousand percent from 2.3 million in 2020 to over 25 million in 2021.
The benefits of a 5G security architecture include better optimization and new economic opportunities for you as mobile service providers and for your customers. This self-sizing, self-healing network will open these new opportunities through virtualization and self-service capabilities for the user.
“4G was about buying connectivity, and 5G is about buying experiences,” said Yvette Kanouff, senior vice president, general manager, Service Provider Business, Cisco. “5G creates a new environment for service creation, giving operators what they need to deliver next-level entertainment experiences. Only Cisco has the services, infrastructure and automation portfolio to support our global customers with their 5G initiatives.”
