Unity Makes Updates to Recent Pricing Changes
Friday, June 17, 2016

As we reported earlier this June, Unity released a new subscription-based pricing model which will include all Unity platforms and iOS/Android add-ons.
The company has now announced adjustments to the new pricing model based on input from customers.
Specifically the changes respond to these two situations:
- The cost for customers who had previously made use of upgrade discounts to perpetual licenses was higher annually with the new subscription costs.
- For game developers who developed for desktop only, the new all-platform cost is significantly higher than the previous yearly cost.
Based on feedback Unity is making these two changes for the new pricing model:
- The company is making the Unity splash screen in Unity Plus optional, like it is in Unity Pro.
- Unity is raising the revenue cap in Unity Plus from $100k to $200k so that more developers are able to take advantage of it.
With those changes here are the new subscription models:
Unity Personal
- Free
- $100k revenue or funding cap
- All platforms
- Unity splash screen (with customization options)
- Personal tier services
Unity Plus
- Pay $35 per month with 12 month commitment
- $200k revenue or funding cap
- All platforms
- Optional Unity splash screen (with customization options)
- Dark Editor Skin
- Plus tier services
Unity Pro
- Pay $125 per month with 12 month commitment
- No revenue cap
- All platforms
- Optional Unity splash screen (with customization options)
- Dark Editor Skin
- Pro tier services
- Pay to Own
- Option to commit for 24 months, for developers who want long term price certainty
Unity is also offering a transition offer for current customers.
