Xamarin is reaching out to students and teachers in the higher education community with three new programs to access Xamarin products.
For students, Xamarin is launching a new program that will allow students who are currently enrolled in a degree or diploma-granting course of study, to develop iOS apps and Android apps in C# using a free version of Xamarin Studio. Students can sign up on the Xamarin student enrollment page.
The company has also created a new Xamarin Student Ambassador program that will provide the opportunity for college and university students to work with Xamarin engineers and evangelists; receive complimentary Xamarin Business subscriptions for iOS, Android, and Mac; and attend Xamarin University for free. To apply, students can complete a Xamarin Student Ambassador application.
Xamarin is also providing educators teaching a mobile development course at accredited academic institutions access to free Xamarin software, educational material, and other resources. More information is available on the Xamarin website.
