IBM has announced IBM LinuxONE III Express, a server built for startups, x86 consolidation, and the channel.
IBM announced IBM LinuxONE III Express, a new enterprise server purpose-built for three specific workloads: startups, x86 consolidation, and the channel. As an off-the-shelf option as an alternative to public cloud, IBM LinuxONE III Express is a single configuration designed to bring enterprise compute to the mid-market, providing our customers with the flexibility of cloud, but with the security, scalablity and speed required to help them take advantage of emerging workloads like digital asset custody and confidential computing.
Starting at $135,000, LinuxONE III Express is ready to run our customers’ most popular workloads with three options for pre-configuration – meaning they can get up and running faster, while also gaining the ability to scale up within the same box as they grow vs. having to add additional servers.
In addition, we’re also announcing a new cloud-like hardware pricing – Tailored Fit Pricing for Hardware Consumption Solution, which builds on our announcement last year to deliver Tailored Fit Pricing for Software (moving from a 4-hour rolling average to cloud-like pricing). With this news, we’ll be delivering a full-stack approach to consumption-based pricing on Z, giving our clients predictability in the era of runaway cloud costs and even spikier workloads associated with COVID-19.
