Chirp GPS Tracking and Telematics App Gets Updated

Wednesday, September 25, 2013

Stuart Parkerson Stuart Parkerson

The app "Chirp" by Moonbeam Development has just been updated to version 1.2 in the iOS app store and was created by our very own editor of ADM, Richard Harris and his development shop. Some of the more notable changes with the popular GPS tracking app is the change from Leaflet which uses open street view, to the latest Google Maps API - all while being built with the Corona platform SDK.

There are lots more changes under the hood too, like turn by turn directions to anyone you are tracking, GEO-fences, a completely redesigned interface and management screens, and even the ability to track multiple people all at the same time, are in the latest version of the app.

Chirp is designed to be as simple as possible to track the whereabouts of anyone with a smartphone, tablet, or even iPod  by "adding them to your nest". Once they are joined to you (with a simple invite code exchange you can email or text to them), all you have to do is click their name from within Chirp to locate where they are in real-time , and even where they "have been" in a map view (this is where the new Google Maps API really shines).

It can be used to track family, friends, even fleet vehicles - "anyone with a smart phone can be tracked quickly and easily using Chirp", says Richard.

Be sure and download Chirp, it's completely free to use, and includes some premium features for those people that really want to keep track of others (parents with kids, kids with elderly parents, boyfriends, girlfriends, etc..)
