Interested in learning more about how to publish applications for Windows Phone for the enterprise? Microsoft’s Matthijs Hoekstra, Sr., Product Marketing Manager in the Windows Platform Developer Marketing Group, has just outlined different options on how to do so on the Windows Phone Developer blog.
While there are a few different ways to distribute enterprise apps, he focuses on three specific ways in the article with an accompanying video. The three different possibilities he discusses are: through the Windows Phone store, as a beta and through private distribution.
While he briefly highlights the first two, he goes in more detail discussing private distribution. This option is accomplished by side loading apps which can be done through an MDM solution like Windows Intune or through email or website.
Developers will need a a developer company account and not an individual developer account. Developers can then buy an Enterprise Mobile Signing Certificate from Symantec (currently Microsoft only supports Symantec certificates to sign corporate Windows Phone apps). Hoekstra then continues through the process.
