Quickbase unveils powerful AI upgrades to eliminate data silos and boost productivity, AI Smart Builder turns spreadsheets into apps, enabling fast, no-code transformation with dashboards and workflows, plus new AI-powered integrations for connected tools.
Quickbase, the AI-powered operations platform, today announced new and enhanced AI capabilities to convert spreadsheets into apps and build custom integrations. Leveraging its Smart Builder, Quickbase automates workflows to teams and projects to unlock productivity and drive impact.
AI Smart Builder: Spreadsheets to Apps, in seconds
With so much data and information flowing through teams and projects, most organizations default to using spreadsheets to manage and track progress. While initially useful, spreadsheets can isolate data into disconnected silos, making it difficult to share data for key insights and to add that data and information into larger project plans.
Using proprietary AI, Spreadsheet Import transforms even the most complex spreadsheets and data into fully functional, data-rich, and customizable apps in just a few clicks. Unlike other, less sophisticated spreadsheet import tools, incapable of handling the complexity of intricate spreadsheets, Smart Builder: AI Spreadsheet Import can incorporate dashboards, reports, forms, and automated workflows that replace the limitations of spreadsheets, and do so in seconds without requiring any technical expertise.
"Spreadsheets are a huge part of any project, often serving as a key system of record for individuals or smaller teams. Unfortunately, they have inherent limitations as projects scale, trapping valuable insights and data in isolation and making it difficult to share information and collaborate with other teams, partners, and customers. Spreadsheet Import breaks these barriers, connecting teams and projects, visualizing data, and adding real-time intelligence keeping things on track in moments. It’s a game-changer for productivity," said Ed Jennings, CEO of Quickbase.
In addition to Spreadsheet Import, Quickbase is expanding its AI-powered integration offering to connect apps to other tools. New integration capabilities can auto-fill mandatory automation steps with the help of AI, using OCR as a type of data recognition, connecting legacy systems and data, reducing manual data entry, rekeying, and process duplication, introducing productivity and efficiency shortcuts, and turning data into actionable insights.
Continued Jennings, "We have a fundamental belief that, for complex operations and industries, AI only works if it is easy to access, use, and adds value in the flow of your natural ways of working. Our platform is designed around that belief. Quickbase AI [HM5] is the foundation of that commitment, making it easy for anyone add intelligence, unlock productivity and efficiency, and amplify the impact of teams and projects."

Remove the app management burden on IT and bring visibility to the entire organization with improved ALM and audit log capabilities
Traditionally, IT teams are responsible for aligning technology resources with business goals, setting rigorous policies that balance access, innovation, and data governance, hoping to promote efficiency and minimize risk. However, the explosion in the use of app-building tools among teams and organizations has IT teams struggling to keep up with the speed and scale of the business. This creates potential vulnerabilities and challenges IT to maintain those policies and promote governance – if you can’t see what is being built, for whom, and what data it might be accessing, enforcement becomes nearly impossible.
Quickbase balances the gap between business needs and IT policy with the application of enhanced application lifecycle management (ALM) and audit logs. IT gains the visibility they need to enforce governance without restricting the flexibility and freedom the business needs to drive growth. New enhancements in the Quickbase platform include:
- Audit Logs - Easily track every change with enhanced audit logs, providing wider and deeper insights into apps and integrations to troubleshoot issues and monitor app activity, with complete transparency.
- Enhanced APIs & ALM Controls - Manage the lifecycle of your applications from start to finish - from planning and building all the way to retirement - supporting the continuous improvement and deployment of business-critical apps using a set of robust APIs support connected tables, forms, dashboards, and even cross-app relationships, empowering you to build, test, and update apps at scale while keeping full control.
- App Summaries - Get a clear, concise overview of applications with Smart Governance AI
- App Intelligence, delivering AI-powered app summaries offering quick and easy understanding of app structures, permissions, and workflows, simplifying management, and optimizing usage.
"There is a push-pull relationship between IT and the business when it comes to governance. New technology tools let teams scale growth and innovation at the pace of the business but can move ahead of the setting and enforcement of policy around governance and data access and management. And if policies and standards are too lax, data security can be compromised; too strict, and IT can be overwhelmed managing every app. Our approach to governance makes it easy to set clear policies and in-product guardrails, empowering teams to innovate and giving IT the visibility and control they need to keep everything secure," said Ed Jennings, CEO of Quickbase.
