Twitter Buy Button Sees Slow Roll out

Posted on Thursday, September 11, 2014 by STUART PARKERSON, Global Sales

Twitter is working with a limited number of partners to test a new “Buy” button feature, which lets Twitter users buy directly from a tweet.

In the test, an entire purchase can be completed in just a few taps. After tapping the “Buy” button, users will get additional product details to confirm the order, and then the information is sent to the merchant for delivery.

For the first order a users makes, Twitter will collect credit card and shipping information and for subsequent purchases this information will be stored so that users will not have to enter the information again. Users can respond to offers directly in the Twitter apps for Android and iOS.

The Buy button program is slowly rolling out with more merchants to be added in the weeks to come.
