Tobii Tech are demonstrating a new level of gaming: allowing use of its improved version of Project Root for gamers, using Tobii’s eye tracking technology at CES 2015.
Gamers will take on the role of rebel ace Lance Rockport who pilots the advanced F-72 Zonda hover fighter against the ruthless Prometheus Corporation, according to Tobii Tech. Both companies are at the cusp of providing intensified gaming in which gamers can use eye tracking through Project Root hardware.
Project Root is a free-roaming, overhead shooter. Project Root is one of the many games featured which uses Tobii’s eye tracking technology at CES 2015. Gamers can apply Tobii eye tracking into the Project Root game for a more intense and faster experience. The collaboration with OPQAM and Tobii Tech will allow gamers to use just a simple eye glance, allowing users to notify the computer and “warp” the mouse to what direction they are looking.
2015 will be the year that eye-tracking makes first entry into consumer markets and consumers have their first tangible experiences with real eye-tracking products in the wild — first with gaming, then with ergonomics and eventually general computer use, stated Oscar Werner, president of Tobii Tech. Werner stated that company is well-poised to bring new products to market. OPQAM is an Argentinian indie game studio and Tobii Tech offers eye tracking solutions.
Eye tracking is the process in which watching is conducted where a person is looking. The adoption of eye tracking is growing at high adoption rates as applications and devices help to understand human behavior and improve interactions. Eye tracking benefits improve user interfaces and organizations can optimize with retail shelf design and product packaging. There have also been breakthroughs in medical diagnostics through eye tracking.
Project Root will be available to the Xbox One, PS4™, and PS®Vita in early 2015.
