The First Italian Pavilion at This Year's Game Developers Conference

Posted on Thursday, March 5, 2015 by RICHARD HARRIS, Executive Editor

The Italian Ministry of Economic Development, ICE, gathering under the Games in Italy brand, has come to GDC for the first time with a Pavilion, located at Booth 702 in the Expo Area at the South Hall, and includes 12 game studios which will have an opportunity to showcase their production to over 24,000 industry professionals coming from all over the world.

Participating companies are Digital Tales, Foofa Studios, Forge Reply, Imagimotion, Just Funny Games, MixedBag, Studio Evil e Vae Victis and innovative startups Bad Seed, Balzo, Mangatar e Tiny Bull Studios. This latter groups is entitled to a more favorable tax and labor regulations regime by Italian government's policies aiming at promoting the creation of new, fast growing companies. The Pavilion has been made available to companies thanks to an economic contribution and a productive co-operation between the Ministry of Economic Development and the ICE Agency, who decided to provide their support to the internationalization of the Italian video games industry.

'With a turnover of over 70 Usd billion worldwide and an increasingly wider and more diversified captive audience, the gaming market represents today an emerging economic sector, saddled between innovation and creativity, where Italy can play an important role' said the Economic Development Vice Minister Carlo Calenda. 'Supporting this international promotional endeavor the Ministry of Economic Development wants to give a signal to young Italian entrepreneurs operating in this sector. They need to seize the numerous new opportunities which are surfacing in this area of business to conquer a stronger position in the international competitive arena.'

Be sure to stop by and see them at the GDC this year!
