Sencha Joins Rackspace Mobile Application Developer Ecosystem; Rackspace to Sponsor SenchaCon 2013

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sencha, the leader in powering HTML5 development for desktop and mobile applications, today announced that they have joined forces with Rackspace® Hosting (NYSE: RAX), the open cloud company, to make it even easier for developers to build and deploy powerful mobile apps by tapping into Sencha’s expertise in HTML5 mobile development frameworks and Rackspace’s leadership in open cloud solutions.

“More than two million developers code with Sencha today as our frameworks, tools and services let them easily build powerful HTML5 applications that optimally perform on every device, platform or screen”
Sencha’s HTML5 mobile application framework, Sencha Touch, enables developers to build fast and powerful business apps that work on every leading mobile platform and device including Apple iOS, Google Android, BlackBerry 10 and Microsoft Windows Phone 8. Tens of thousands of HTML5 apps have been built with Sencha, many of which require hosting and data storage services, and this partnership with Rackspace will help streamline the process for many Sencha developers.

As part of this collaboration, Sencha will join Rackspace’s new mobile application developer ecosystem. This ecosystem of strategic partners will bring together best-in-class solutions to make it easier for developers to design, build, test, deploy and scale mobile applications on Rackspace’s open cloud. The collaboration also unites two companies committed to open source and open standards, giving developers greater flexibility and freedom when designing and managing applications.

“More than two million developers code with Sencha today as our frameworks, tools and services let them easily build powerful HTML5 applications that optimally perform on every device, platform or screen,” said Paul Kopacki, vice president of marketing at Sencha. “Rackspace’s open cloud stacks make hosting these applications practically frictionless for developers and is perfectly in line with our open standards approach to application development.”

“The continued growth and expansion of the mobile market has created a real need to streamline the development of powerful and useful applications,” said John Engates, CTO of Rackspace. “Our mobile ecosystem initiative is greatly strengthened by aligning efforts with an open source partner like Sencha, which provides best-in-class development frameworks and tools while reducing complexity for HTML5 app creation.”

In addition to the companies’ technological collaboration, Rackspace is a sponsor of SenchaCon 2013 — the conference that brings more than 1,000 of the most influential HTML5 and mobile application developers in the world together to learn, share, code and collaborate. Rackspace’s participation at SenchaCon 2013 will add to what is already a must-attend event for any organization that has embraced HTML5 as the standard for building universal applications for any modern device.
