Marmalade has announced that it has joined the Tizen Association Partner
Program to help drive the development and deployment of the Tizen Operating System (OS) platform.
The Tizen Association has been formed to guide the industry role of Tizen, including gathering of requirements, identification and facilitation of service models, and overall industry marketing and education.
The Tizen Association is an industry consortium that supports the development of the Tizen open-source software platform and operating system. Tizen is based on HTML5 and is designed to be an open source, standards-based software platform for multiple device categories such as smartphones, tablets, netbooks, in-vehicle infotainment devices, and smart TVs. The Tizen SDK and API allow developers to use HTML5 and related web technologies to write applications that run across multiple device segments.
The Tizen project resides within the Linux Foundation and is governed by a Technical Steering Group. The Technical Steering Group is the primary decision-making body for the open source project, with a focus on platform development and delivery, along with the formation of working groups to support device verticals.
Since the launch of the program with 36 companies in November 2013, the Tizen Partner Program has grown to over 80 partners. As well as Marmalade, other members include mobile game publishers, operators, application developers, mobile software management vendors and major telecommunications companies.
