Low code tool adoption to increase in 2021 Infragistics predicts

Posted on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 by RICHARD HARRIS, Executive Editor

Driven in part by COVID-19, the continued rapid pace of digital transformation across enterprises is creating enormous innovation opportunities while at the same time significantly increasing demand on IT to deliver new mobile application experiences.

Development teams were already seeing overloaded backlogs in 2020 and we predict that in 2021 more organizations will adopt low-code/no-code tools and we will see a rise in “Citizen Developers”.

These tools and everyday citizen developers will continue taking on aspects of application development, specifically for apps that don't require heavy architecture or aren't deemed mission-critical.

The secret to the biggest opportunities for cost and time savings when going from design to code in 2021 can be found in using a well-thought-out set of UI patterns, or UI controls, that can be ‘turned into code’ and customized from there.

The challenges facing many developers and DevOps teams working remotely in 2021 will include maintaining wellbeing and staying engaged.

It’s important to increase communication and find creative ways to bring remote employees together as remote work continues. While the crisis has changed our work culture – no more in-office movies or picnics – initiatives such as employee care packages, peer recognition awards, and introducing pets on Zoom calls will help bring development teams closer together even while working at home.
