LiftMaster steps into home automation with their MyQ app

Throughout the next year, the number of U.S. households using smart home technology is expected to double to 30 million, according to a survey conducted by Xfinity.

LiftMaster, a garage door opener and access solutions company, offers a simple way to turn any home into a smart home, providing control of the garage and multiple home devices all through one application - their free MyQ app, now available in the Google Play and Apple App Store. Designed to integrate with most garage door brands, MyQ provides smart home connectivity with garage door control, as well as home lighting and video.

To provide insight into what is happening at home, their app sends notifications if the garage door is left open and allows homeowners to close it from anywhere with their smartphone. The MyQ app also offers a scheduling function that allows homeowners to program what time the lights turn on and off, or turn them on and off manually. Unlike old light timers - which only allow for one schedule - homeowners can now customize timing, allowing one setting for weekdays, one setting for weekends and another if users are traveling. This also allows homeowners to be more energy efficient and save on their electric bill.

'LiftMaster is leading the way in home connectivity capabilities, providing homeowners oversight of their home through one application, whether garage door access, lighting, and even video,' said John Villanueva, Vice President, Marketing, LiftMaster. 'By connecting their garage door opener to MyQ - regardless of what brand of garage door opener they have - homeowners can tap into the latest home control systems, providing greater peace-of-mind, security and access, whether they're on vacation, at work, or running errands.'

Additionally, through LiftMaster's Works with Nest integration with Nest Cam Indoor and Outdoor security cameras, homeowners can view what is going on at home. While MyQ alerts users of garage door activity via smart phone push notifications, with Nest Cam Indoor and Nest Cam Outdoor cameras, users can also access a live feed of what's happening in the garage the moment the garage door is activated.
