Is HTC Developing Mobile OS for Users in China

Posted on Friday, August 30, 2013 by RICHARD HARRIS, Executive Editor

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Taiwanese smart phone manufacturer HTC is developing a China-centric operating system for its mobile technology.

The report indicates that HTC is looking to achieve a tighter integration with apps developed within China and effort is an extension of the Chinese government’s desire to reduce the dependence on foreign software companies. This comes on the heels of a steadily declining relationship between Google and the Chinese government.

The OS is reported to be ready for release by the end of the year.
