Companies are creating more and more custom apps, fueled by demands from internal and external audiences. The result? This insatiable demand for custom apps is taxing the resources for companies as they search to find developers to write all of that code.
Good Technology’s Q3 2014 Good Mobility Index Report reports this dramatic rise in custom app development as part of its quarterly survey of over 6,000 Good customers. Custom business apps showed a 107 percent quarter-over-quarter growth and 731 percent growth over the same time period last year. That’s a huge jump.
The report also showed that for the quarter, iOS reversed the decline in activations from Q2, picking up two percentage points, representing 69 percent of all activations, with the release of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus accounting for the gain. Additionally, the report showed that iPhone 6 outpaced iPhone 6 Plus in its first partial month, representing 85 percent of these new devices to be activated. Android represented 29% of activations and for the sixth consecutive quarter, Windows Phone continues to hold one percent of the market share in total device activations.
