App Developers Can Now Become Amazon Associates With In App Purchasing of Products

Posted on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 by RICHARD HARRIS, Executive Editor

Amazon has introduced its new Mobile Associates API for Android devices, enabling app developers to sell associated Amazon merchant products in-app. Developers can take a cut of up to 6% of items sold through Amazon’s 1-Click purchase program by integrating the new API into their app.

The new monetization program is being promoted by Amazon as a way for developers to establish a deeper connection with users, providing direct access to purchasing products and services that compliment the app’s individual characteristics. Playing a sports game, receive an opportunity to purchase Madden 2013. Using a business app tool, get a deal on printer ink.

There are three opportunities through the new program: (1) selling a single item from within an app or game, (2) showcasing a category of goods, or (3) bundling the purchase of physical goods with the purchase of digital goods.

Developers can sign up at https://developer.amazon.com.
