Vector Software has released two new solutions that help companies facilitate software testing process improvement and test services to capture the behavior of legacy code bases through the company’s Health Check and Baseline Testing services.
Vector’s Health Check engagement reviews the current state of an organization’s testing infrastructure and gathers key metrics such as gaps in testing, code complexity, and comment density to identify risk areas. A detailed report is provided containing all of the gathered data along with recommendations for improvement.
Through its Baseline Testing solution, also known as characterization testing, companies receive support for legacy code bases that have inadequate test cases. Often the lack of sufficient tests means that the application cannot be easily modified since changes break existing functionality. Having test cases that formalize the behavior of an existing piece of software enables developers to refactor and enhance the application. Vector Software’s technology allows a company to build huge suites of test cases for legacy applications, which provide an immediate improvement to quality.
