The StackMob Platform Will Cease Operation on Sunday May 11th, 2014

It has to feel weird for the team at StackMob to live the tech startup dream and see everything you built end cease to exist, to be absorbed by PayPal.

Its seems more like science fiction; a smaller organism is literally absorbed into a larger organism. It’s an interesting, and relevant analogy. One of the definitions of an organism is the following from dictionary.com, “An organism is any complex thing or system having properties and functions determined not only by the properties and relations of its individual parts, but by the character of the whole that they compose and by the relations of the parts to the whole.”

And PayPal as a company is definitely a complex organism and the StackMob Platform will help drive the future functions of the company as it grows its BaaS offerings.

So the StackMob Platform will cease operation on Sunday May 11th, 2014. Customers will no longer have access to their StackMob accounts and will need to use the data exporter to help get all your data out of StackMob in CSV format. After May 11 it will data will not be available for export and poof, it will be gone.

The company’s full website is still available. And ironically enough, on the StackMob website the company describes its service as “Future-Proof,” but as we know now, the future ends in May.

C'est la vie!
