The IoT opportunity for app developers is becoming clearer, and smart home systems are a new frontier for developers looking to get their apps into hundreds of millions of homes around the world. According to data just released by
Parks Associates, between 57% and 73% of projected smart home buyers are likely to purchase upgrades or additional equipment through the app in their smart home system.
The SXSW 2014 Connected Home Developers Garage will feature app and device makers at the forefront of smart home development – such as
Pebble Watch,
Life360 and
Zubie – who will discuss innovations in the Internet of Things space, and in particular how home systems will serve as the central hub for smart apps and devices.
Attendees can also learn more about how to get involved in the smarter homes, smarter lives movement by joining the
iControl OpenHome Partner Program. The program offers a community for developers to partner and integrate on a common platform, and gives them instant access to a new distribution opportunity via integration with North America’s primary smart home solutions (i.e.
Xfinity Home by Comcast, Time Warner Cable IntelligentHome and
Rogers Smart Home Monitoring). These and other leading service providers are looking for the next generation of device and app developers to grow their smart home ecosystems.
The Connected Home Developers Garage will take place on Sunday, March 9, from 10 am to 6 pm CST at Silicon Labs’ Austin headquarters located at 200 West Cesar Chavez Street. Register to attend and see the full schedule of speakers.
