Red Hat and Avi Networks join forces to automate the enterprise app lifecycle

Posted on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 by AUSTIN HARRIS, Global Sales

Avi Networks has collaborated with Red Hat to simplify and automate the enterprise application development and deployment lifecycle. Through the collaboration, Avi Networks and Red Hat integrated technologies to give enterprises the combined power of a container application platform, IT automation, software load balancing, and container networking services. With the convergence of several application services, enterprises can now avoid the complexity and cost of deploying multiple point solutions required to rapidly provision and scale applications to millions of users.

Key Features:

- Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform, a container application platform that enables developers to develop, host, and scale applications in a cloud environment. Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform is the first and only container-centric, hybrid cloud solution built from Linux containers, Kubernetes, Project Atomic and OpenShift Origin upstream projects and based on the trusted backbone of the world’s leading enterprise Linux platform, Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

- Ansible by Red Hat, a simple, agentless IT automation technology that improves processes, migrates applications for better optimization, and provides a single language for DevOps practices across the organization and;

- The Avi Vantage Platform, that delivers elastic application services including load balancing, service discovery, application performance monitoring, predictive autoscaling, micro-segmentation, and application security for on-premises or cloud applications.

The container application platform market is rapidly expanding, fueled by enterprise goals of rapidly developing applications, and significantly reducing the complexity, high cost and time of deploying and managing the infrastructure required to launch these applications. Linux containers have emerged as a key enterprise technology for achieving faster and higher return on IT and application investment.

Traditional hardware appliances do not have the required architecture, flexibility, or cost structure to support container-based services or Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS). On the other hand, most open source solutions do not offer a complete solution for production-grade applications. Avi Networks is uniquely architected as a centrally-controlled, distributed pool of software load balancers to provide the ideal complement of networking services to PaaS, containers and IT automation technology.

“I am excited about the collaboration with Avi Networks to deliver networking services with Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform,” said Ashesh Badani, vice president and general manager, OpenShift, at Red Hat. “The joint solution enables our customers to deliver highly scalable and flexible applications built on Red Hat OpenShift Container Application Platform in any on-premises or cloud environment.”

“Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform and Avi Networks together offer a robust solution for building, deploying, and monitoring modern microservices applications,” said Edward Sharp, vice president of business development and chief strategy officer at Avi Networks. “Avi Networks brings together essential networking services such as load balancing, autoscaling, service discovery, and micro-segmentation and developer tools including app/service dependency maps and app performance monitoring, which are all powerful and complementary solutions for Red Hat’s customers.”
