PacketZoom Increasing the network performance for apps in Asia

Posted on Thursday, November 16, 2017 by RICHARD HARRIS, Executive Editor

PacketZoom, the company re-defining mobile application performance through in-app mobile networking technology, announced today that several mobile applications in Asia have used its app acceleration technology to significantly increase app performance. Apps from Sephora, Inshorts and Netmeds reported speed increases of up to 2x and disconnection rate decreases of over 80 percent.

“Southeast Asia and India specifically suffer from lower mobile network quality, which slows down business growth and causes frustration for consumers,” said Shlomi Gian, PacketZoom’s CEO. “Each time we replaced the dated legacy internet protocol with our Mobile Expresslane,   we witnessed faster apps with more reliable connectivity and higher user engagement.”

The Netmeds app, which provides convenient and affordable access to everyday medicines in India, ran 1.64x faster on 3G networks and 1.5x faster across LTE and WiFi networks with PacketZoom. Netmeds also saw an immediate ROI and significant boost in user engagement by up to 8 percent. The Netmeds app is part of Netmeds Marketplace Limited, founded by Dadha Company, one of the oldest medical shops in India, trusted for quality medicines since 1914.

“Netmeds aspires to offer our customers a gratifying shopping experience, especially when they’re on the go and using their mobile device,” said Advait Suhas Pandit, Netmeds CTO.  “PacketZoom’s SDK was easy to integrate and showed immediate results. Our mobile customers can now enjoy a faster, more reliable experience when they need the mobile app the most.”

After integrating PacketZoom’s Mobile Expresslane, the Inshorts app, which provides short news for the mobile generation, ran 1.44x faster and reported an 80 percent reduction in disconnects. This helped Inshorts reduce 70 percent of customer complaints stemming from a particularly troublesome network provider.

“We strive to allow our users to stay up-to-date on news that matter to them in a fast, efficient way,” said Sourav De, Head of Technology at Inshorts. “The complaints we were getting from customers about app load time were compromising the experience and limiting user engagement with our mobile app. Since integrating PacketZoom’s SDK, we’ve seen a significant improvement in disconnects and load time speed, which led to 70 percent reduction in customer complaints along with an increase in image views. These performance improvements add up to better overall user engagement and increased customer satisfaction.”

Beauty retailer Sephora launched a mobile shopping app late last year. During its soft launch, the app suffered from high latency challenges, a common issue in the region, so the company integrated the PacketZoom Mobile Expresslane. Sephora saw an immediate ROI and significant boost in user engagement. The app ran 2x faster and reported 63 percent reduction in network errors. Improving the user experience led to a 10 percent increase in image views.
