If you can’t find an enterprise contract gig or a full time job as an app developer, it’s not because the opportunities aren’t out there. It seems that every week a new report comes out that organizations are looking to create new apps, corporate app stores and are examining ever increasing ways to mobilize their operations.
Manufacturing Insights has published a new report, “Business Strategy: Looking Forward to the Corporate Application Store,” which documents that manufacturing organizations will take a serious run at creating new mobile opportunities for themselves and their client bases.
Manufacturers have a host of stakeholders they must consider when deploying a mobile strategy – employees, suppliers, retail chain partners, end users – and the list goes on. And where in the past, IT departments worried about which widget went where, now mobile has changed the dynamic of how IT permeates the manufacturing corporate structure and as a result, app developers will be in high demand.
Think about it, the car ads you see today are basically marketing a big, shiny metal mobile device, providing old school mobility to get you from point A to point B, and new school mobility with access to entertainment, mapping, and more. Just consider a recent report that GM is quadrupling its IT staff and that’s just a start of an app developer hiring binge.
It’s a changing world and if you build it they will come, they being app developers that is.
