PapayaMobile’s AppFlood mobile ad platform reveals which time people are most likely to click on ads during the day

AppFlood dug through 300 million mobile ad impressions in the United States in order to discover which days and times people are most active on their mobile phones – thus, the most effective for mobile ad click-throughs. The full article with graphs is posted on the AppFlood blog but key findings include the following:

The highest volume of clicks on mobile ads Monday to Sunday occur at 6PM. The lowest volume of clicks occur at 2AM.

Breaking down clicks per day comparing weekends and weekdays, weekends (averaging hourly clicks during Saturdays and Sundays) see 1.3x more clicks compared to weekdays (averaging hourly clicks during Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays).

At the same time, high click activity is sustained for a longer period of time (between 8AM and 6PM) during the weekends, which contributes to a higher volume of clicks on Saturdays and Sundays.

Weekday break down: Highest click volume is at 6PM; lowest click volume is between 1AM & 2AM.

Weekend break down: Highest click volume is at 11AM, though clicks also peak at 8AM and 6PM; lowest click volume is between 2AM & 3AM.

The highest click-through rate by day occurs on Fridays & Saturdays. Wednesday exhibits the lowest CTR.
