MediScan mobile app lets users create custom shoe inserts

A Florida technology company has launched a new mobile phone application called MediScan, which allows users to create the same medical-grade custom shoe inserts a podiatrist would normally prescribe, without the need to physically see a doctor.

MediScan Custom Orthotics, which was founded by two Florida-based podiatrists and a longtime expert from the medical device industry, offers the exact same orthotic devices and custom shoe inserts a patient would normally receive from their podiatrist, without the burden of having to schedule and visit a doctor's office.

Doctor appointments become obsolete for custom shoe inserts thanks to MediScan mobile app by Tampa-area podiatrists

These inserts can help with foot pain, foot aches, plantar fasciitis, flat feet, tendonitis, bunion prevention and general everyday comfort.

Within the application, users are guided through the creation of reliable 3D lidar scans of their feet using their phones or tablets. Those scans are then sent for review to a MediScan podiatrist who will then design the custom shoe implants based on the user’s unique needs. The finished product is then sent directly to the doorstep of the user, without the patient ever having to step foot in a doctor’s office.

"MediScan is about much more than providing the highest quality custom shoe implants to get patients up and moving again. This is really an advancement for modern medicine, as a whole. We are combining the ease and convenience of telehealth with the creation of custom orthotics, drastically cutting the time it takes for patients to receive the solution that’s right for them. We’re thrilled to launch our mobile app, and we’re excited to see our brand-new technology in action," said Dr. Bret Brennan, a podiatrist and MediScan’s co-founder.

Ultimately, MediScan will make it easier for people of all ages and athletic abilities to get moving again, and will help them do so at a record pace. By using MediScan, patients can receive their inserts without having to wait to get on a doctor’s calendar, which can often take weeks.

Additionally, MediScan Custom Orthotics can be delivered anywhere in the United States. The company is the brainchild of Brennan and Dr. Anh Nyugen, who run a successful multi-location podiatry practice in the Tampa Bay area. Additionally, Donald Dykstra, a medical device expert who has worked in the industry for more than a decade is also a founding partner.

MediScan Custom Orthotics launched their mobile application, which improves access to custom orthotics by eliminating excess costs

According to the CDC, 1-in-5 Americans contend with chronic pain, including many who suffer from pain caused by improper foot alignment.

In August, Tampa tech-company MediScan Custom Orthotics launched their revolutionary mobile application, which improves access to custom orthotics by eliminating excess costs. Through MediScan, anyone with an IOS device can scan their foot and order custom, high quality, foot-hugging, medical-grade orthotics in a matter of minutes. These custom orthotics can significantly aid in providing pain relief by improving posture and encouraging a proper gait.

Improper foot alignment can lead to various problems such as plantar fasciitis, bunions, flat feet, and general foot discomfort. These conditions often result in pain that extends beyond the feet, impacting overall mobility and quality of life.

MediScan ‘s advanced technology addresses these problems by simplifying the custom orthotics process. Through the MediScan app, available on iPhone and iPad, users can perform a precise scan of their feet using the device’s Lidar technology without waiting to see a doctor. This innovative approach eliminates the need for a traditional in-person consultation, enabling individuals to obtain effective pain relief from the comfort of their home.

The app guides users through an easy scanning process, which captures detailed foot measurements. The data is then sent to MediScan’s podiatry experts who review and analyze the custom scans remotely. These experts use 3D modeling to create custom orthotics designed specifically for each individual to correct their alignment issues, with the goal of alleviating pain.

Custom orthotics are crucial in managing and relieving pain associated with foot alignment problems. Studies have shown that orthotics can enhance foot alignment, provide targeted support, and reduce stress on the feet, ankles, knees, and lower back. By addressing arch problems and pressure distribution, custom orthotics offer a personalized solution that off-the-shelf options like Dr. Scholl’s inserts cannot match. MediScan’s technology not only improves the accuracy of orthotic design but also ensures users receive a product tailored to their individual needs.
