How to not waste time on bad app ideas

Posted on Monday, December 17, 2012 by RICHARD HARRIS, Executive Editor

Sometimes when a new app idea comes to us, the stroke of genius tends to override some rational thinking. We tend to rush out and tell somebody we trust all about our new idea, then we go ahead and register the app, and domain name before anyone else gets it (this makes it feel official somehow), and we even sometimes go as far as storyboarding the app idea, and writing out the first parts of the code! Somewhere during this process it hits us, the reality of the fact that we might not have thought about everything detailing the idea before we wasted time trying to stamp it out.

It's a good idea the next time you have an app idea, to write it down and think about it for 24 hours before going any further. Questions like, is this a niche? Is my app trendy? Does it already exist just as I thought it? All have to be answered.

Here is a good article on how developers can validate their app ideas with some simple processes, and a little bit of research.
