YoYo Games has unveiled the GameMaker Marketplace, a one-stop-shop for all of the assets and technology created by developers for developing games with YoYo’s GameMaker: Studio.

The GameMaker Marketplace is now in open beta and is available to everyone who has licensed GameMaker: Studio license either through the product itself or from YoYo Games’ web site. Developers need to update to version 1.4 of GameMaker: Studio to access the GameMaker Marketplace.

The GameMaker: Marketplace is YoYo Games’ latest move to grow GameMaker: Studio as the tool of choice for a cross-platform mobile, console, web and desktop games development environment. Resources in the categories of animation, audio, backgrounds, extensions, fonts, objects, paths, rooms, scripts, shaders, sprites, timelines and much more are currently offered, with new packages added daily. Additionally, support materials including tutorials, handbooks and demos will be included over time to help developers make better games.

The GameMaker Marketplace Early Access Program opened a little more than a month ago and in that time, more than 320 resource packages have been made available to the community of more than 145,000 GameMaker: Studio developers around the world. And now any programmer, artist, musician and game designers that has purchased GameMaker: Studio can make resources available on the Marketplace.

Also, at the Game Developers Conference Europe, YoYo Games was making news with the announcement of GameMaker: Studio support for Xbox One. They company also announced enhanced support for current Microsoft platforms including Windows RT, Windows 8.1, and Windows Phone 8.1, as well as support for future operating system releases.

The GameMaker: Studio export for Xbox One will be available in the fourth quarter of 2014 to members of Microsoft’s licensed Xbox developer programs, including ID@Xbox. An Xbox One developer kit is required to take advantage of the GameMaker: Studio export for Xbox One.
