Espresso Logic has announced new features that enable developers to quickly create secure RESTful APIs for stored procedures. Using the new functionality, developers can create mobile applications that leverage a company’s investment in stored procedures.
The Espresso Designer
service exposes stored procedures as REST/JSON resources while the supporting infrastructure is handled by the Espresso service. Developers decide which stored procedures to expose along with access control rules for the APIs on a role-oriented basis.
Launched in November 2013, Espresso made available its reactive logic programming-based database backend as a service to enable creation of enterprise class RESTful APIs to databases for use in mobile and web application development. The service provides the flexibility of server side JavaScript along with the expressive power of Reactive Programming to reduce development backlog for enterprise apps.
Espresso provides fast RESTful API to databases along with role-based row and column security and logic, and is available in the cloud or on-premise. The Espresso platform is a complete scalable middle-tier for mobile applications and enables developers to connect to SQL data and virtually any other database SaaS or computing application via a standard REST interface.
New Feature Overview
The new stored procedure support is virtually automatic. Stored procedures are cataloged when Espresso introspects the schema. Security is overlaid on the stored procedures just as they are on tables and other REST endpoints.
