Electric Cloud Introduces Continuous Delivery SaaS Service for Mobile App Development

Posted on Thursday, October 9, 2014 by RICHARD HARRIS, Executive Editor

Electric Cloud has introduced Ship.io which brings continuous delivery to native iOS and Android app development. This SaaS offering is now available as a free public beta service simplifying and automating build, test and deployment processes.

Ship.io facilitates the mobile app lifecycle process by delivering the benefits of continuous integration and continuous delivery to the mobile developer market. With tight integration to GitHub, BitBucket and other Git repositories, Ship.io automatically detects and configures native Android and iOS projects to allow teams to collaboratively build apps across supported OS, version and device screen types.

The platform connects existing tool chains to simplify and automate unit, functional and physical device testing, and allows teams to run these tests every time code is committed to provide fast feedback. Test frameworks in iOS and Android are supported.

Ship.io builds also can be distributed to users through over-the-air (OTA) distribution, as well as through integrations with HockeyApp and TestFlight. Ship.io dashboards provide complete visibility into all build and test status levels, together with a central management platform for cross-team collaboration and historical reporting.
