Docker has announced the general availability of new commercial solutions for Dockerized distributed applications offering new support services, certified Docker Engines and management tools. The new offering is available for on-premises or cloud-based configurations and is available directly from Docker as well as through Amazon Web Services, IBM, and Microsoft, with subscriptions starting at $150 per month.
Building on the Docker Hub Registry, the new Docker Trusted Registry (DTR) is a registry for Docker container images that provides an on-premises option for storing and sharing Docker images. A highly-available registry server that provides LDAP and Active Directory integration with existing authentication systems, it also offers role-based access control (RBAC) and audit logs for authorization and compliance for authorization and compliance.
In related news, IBM and Docker have announced a reseller agreement for the Docker Trusted Registry. IBM has become the first company to fully integrate the on-premise Docker Trusted Registry software with its flagship DevOPs and Cloud offerings, beginning with IBM UrbanCode and IBM Pure Application Systems. Through this relationship, IBM is enabling containers for enterprise production workloads in hybrid cloud deployment. Additionally, IBM has announced the delivery of enterprise class containers based on Docker, that make it easier for developers to deliver production applications across their hybrid environments
During DockerCon 2015, Microsoft demonstrated a multi-platform distributed container application across Windows Server and Linux. In addition, Microsoft also announced Visual Studio Online support for Docker and a new Azure Marketplace experience.
