DataDyne is Now Magpi: Launches Updated Mobile Data Collection and Messaging Application Suite

Posted on Saturday, August 30, 2014 by STUART PARKERSON, Global Sales

DataDyne, which offers a mobile data collection and messaging application suite, has announced it has rebranded as Magpi. The company has also announced the release of Magpi 2.0, with enhancements for creating form-based mobile apps and outgoing SMS and voice messages.

Magpi helps businesses in need of surveys, inspections, compliance audits, research, supply chain management, geo-data information collection and other forms to simply create a mobile form, then deploy it to any device. It also makes broadcast messaging possible for any organization, enabling users to create mass SMS or voice messaging campaigns in any language from an easy-to-use web interface, without having to work through local carriers.

Magpi forms are compatible with iOS, Android and Symbian devices, and offer real-time and offline data capture regardless of location. In addition, Magpi enables data collection via SMS or web entry, text-to-speech capabilities in 17 different languages, and instant data analysis and publishing.

Enhancements to the platform include improved send/receive protocols to ensure users experience better performance, even over slow networks. Other new features include:

- Auto-update: form changes automatically sync to connected devices in the field – providing huge time savings for administrators

- Subforms: users now have the ability to easily repeat question groups on forms, whether it’s for multiple household residents being surveyed, for every item in a supply location, or anything else that may require repeated questions, increasing accuracy and efficiency in the field

- Enter-in List: users now have the option to view, and enter data into, all questions at once – really useful for larger screen devices such as tablet

- Auto-share: shared forms automatically sync to connected devices in the field
As a part of Magpi 2.0, we have also made improvements to the Web facet of our product suite, including:

- Dynamic messaging: enables users to schedule broadcast messages in relation to “special dates” like birthdays, appointment dates, due date, etc.

- Blue labels: when designing forms, labels appear in blue (just like on mobile), which helps a lot in reviewing long forms

- Import message lists: bulk import messages for broadcasting

- Track data modifications: improved logging of form and data edits

- New data-entry flexibility: enter data one question at a time or all at once in a list

- Auto-update: form changes are automatically updated on connected field devices

- Auto-share: new forms automatically synced to connected field devices

- Subforms: easily repeat question groups on a form

- Improved network performance: optimized send/receive protocols for better performance over slow networks

- Dynamic messaging: broadcast messages can be timed to recipients’ ages, appointments, and other special dates

- Import message lists: bulk import messages for broadcasting

- Track data modifications: improved logging of form and data edits
