AppCarousel to drive momentum in growing multi-screen and multi-platform app market with app sourcing and distribution program

SAN FRANCISCO, June 26, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- AppCarousel, a leading provider of app store solutions and content ecosystem services, today announced the launch of a new Developer Program for Tizen, an open source standards-based software platform supported by leading mobile operators, device manufacturers, and silicon suppliers.

AppCarousel enables app developers and content providers to easily create, submit, distribute, monetize, and merchandise across all screens on a multitude of platforms.  As part of the Developer Program, Tizen will leverage AppCarousel's reach and capabilities in order to expand its catalog of apps and recruit more developers of apps for Tizen. The program also provides developers with a place to easily submit and distribute their apps to a growing number of ecosystems, receive quality support, and get access to the tools needed to succeed.

'Because AppCarousel has the economies of scale of dealing with so many platforms and developers, they are able to provide us with ready-to-go relationships,' said Christopher Croteau, Director, Tizen Association and Managing Director, Platform and Business Management, Intel System Software Division.

'In addition, they have a proactive outreach program to identify and source the best apps for Tizen,' added Croteau.

'We are proud to have Tizen as part of our ecosystem and to serve as a distribution partner,' said Terry Hughes, Managing Director, AppCarousel. 'This is also a real opportunity for app developers because they are able to get their apps more easily discovered and promoted on the Tizen platform.'

It's a Program, Not a Platform

AppCarousel's partners, including Tizen, understand that a curated, relationship-based approach is required in order to secure the right set of quality developers and the best possible set of apps for the target platform and user base. AppCarousel combines automated app ingestion and testing tools with personal touch points with each developer to ensure the right fit.

'Developers have told us loud and clear that they need distribution, monetization, and most importantly, the ability to closely partner with platform providers so that their apps can get above the noise. We are now bringing key opportunities like Tizen to them,' said Terry Hughes, Managing Director, AppCarousel. 'For platform providers, like Tizen, that partner with us are able to leverage our ten years of content recruitment and our thousands of developer relationships to bring them a wealth of fresh new content that their users will love.'

New Multi-screen and Multi-platform Approach to App and Content Recruitment

Interoperability across platforms remains a challenge for developers who want to distribute their apps across mobile, tablet, TV, console, and many other connected devices with the least amount of development effort and with the fastest time to market. Meanwhile the number of platforms continues to expand, and each platform needs to attract those developers. As consumers adopt a multi-screen and multi-device lifestyle, they expect their favorite apps to work on all of their devices. AppCarousel addresses these issues by connecting manufacturers of consumer electronic devices, telecommunications carriers, and platform providers with developers that want to provide apps and content for their ecosystems.

AppCarousel will be announcing new partnerships with other major organizations in the coming months. Each partnership will be tailored to meet the specific needs of the organization's ecosystem.
