Another mobile ad serving platform updates for GDPR compliancy

Posted on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 by CHRISTIAN HARGRAVE, Publishing Editor

The GDPR deadlone is looming and mobile ad networks are scrambling to get their SDK's updated to stay legal. MoPub has just announced that their SDK v5.0 now includes several new improvements and bug fixes for iOS, Android, and Unity. This includes the important updates that are required to obtain consent from users in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, and Switzerland in support of the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) that will go into effect on May 25, 2018.

To ensure a smooth transition to GDPR compliance, the company advises that its users integrate the new SDK into your apps and distribute the updated apps to end users by May 23, 2018, two days ahead of the GDPR effective date, in order to continue serving personalized advertising to end users located in the EEA, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland via the MoPub Services and avoid any potential disruption to advertising revenue.
