1 year after Atlassian acquisition Trello unveils new platform

Atlassian has unveiled a redesigned directory for Trello integrations (or as Trello calls them “Power-Ups”) for users to discover the 80+ partner apps available on the Trello platform. The revamped Power-Up Directory is the latest in a series of updates to the Trello ecosystem one year after its $425M acquisition by Atlassian.

After officially launching the Power-Up Platform in 2016, the Power-Up Platform has been completely redesigned, with a slick new in-app directory that’s searchable and categorized for easy discoverability of all the apps - a benefit to both users and developers. In addition to existing integrations with Google, Dropbox, Github and others, Trello added over 50 partner-built Power-Ups this year, including: InVision, Zeplin, Figma, Jotform, GitLab, Freshdesk, Zapier, Egnyte, Droplr and TeamGantt.

Major Atlassian recent company announcements:

  • Trello’s new embedded boards and cards, announced in September, brought Trello’s functionality and look and feel directly into partner apps like Dropbox and Appear.in, as well as Atlassian products like Bitbucket and Confluence Cloud.

  • Post-acquisition, Trello has also leveraged Atlassian’s global presence to localize in new markets and integrate with key international players. Trello’s official Nordic launch in September, sparked work with regional partners such as Zendesk and Appear.in to bring new Power-Ups to users. And in November, Trello launched in Japan with integrations with popular local apps Qiita and ChatWork.

  • Since being acquired by Atlassian in January 2017, Trello has grown to over 80 Power-Ups (up from 33 at the end of 2016), building out and nurturing its platform under the guidance of Atlassian’s ecosystem team.
