The Future Looks Bright For Mobile Betting

Posted on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 by RICHARD HARRIS, Executive Editor

Adoption and engagement of quickly advancing digital technology has fundamentally changed the structure and use of consumer markets across the Internet over the last 10 years, and this is particularly true in the world of sports betting apps for Android and responsively designed, web-hosted betting platforms.

Along with flipping the percentage of PC Vs Mobile traffic flow on its head in recent years, mobile optimization technology has also unearthed challenges as to how the online betting industry is regulated and taxed across European and UK governments.

Mobile penetration has now exceeded 60% as a guide figure across the board, tablet ownership has also doubled in the last 5 years to the extent that over 40% of the adult population now owns one. Short of technology being a result of an appetite for this shift, it’s the betting companies and general population who’ve been struggling to keep up with the fast advancement of developer ability to create far more responsive, fast and simplistic apps and mobile sites which not only don’t skimp on provisions for users, but are actually a cleaner navigation experience than the majority of betting websites on PC.

But it’s in-play betting that is expected to see the biggest growth in the coming months and years. Today’s society is all about instant gratification, we want everything ready yesterday and this is true especially in mobile sports betting where gamblers want more action on the sports they’re watching right now, with favorite bets made and settled instantly, securely, all on a screen little more than a few inches long and a couple wide.

Security is a big one going forward for developers. The rise of fingerprint technology for iOS is expected to transcend across atforms and the current “Username/Password” combination of login could well be replaced with players logging in and confirming their bets with a push of their thumb print. In short, don’t expect momentum in technology advancement letting up any time soon and as it progresses, as will appetite and expectation among the user community.
