IBM to Partner with Twitter to Market Twitter Data to Enterprises

Posted on Friday, October 31, 2014 by RICHARD HARRIS, Executive Editor

IBM has inked a deal with Twitter to bring to the enterprise the reams of Twitter data created each day. According to an IBM, the collaboration will focus on three areas:

Integration of Twitter data with IBM analytics services on the cloud

IBM plans to offer Twitter data as part of new cloud-based services, including IBM Watson Analytics, a new cognitive service that brings visualization and predictive capabilities to business users; and a cloud-based data refinery service that enables app developers to embed data services in applications. Developers will also be able to integrate Twitter data into new cloud services through IBM’s Watson Developer Cloud or IBM Bluemix platform-as-a-service.

New data-intensive capabilities for the enterprise

IBM and Twitter will deliver a set of enterprise applications with the first joint solution integrating Twitter data with IBM ExperienceOne products, allowing sales, marketing, and customer service professionals to map sentiment and behavior to engage and support their customers.

Specialized enterprise consulting

IBM Global Business Services professionals will have access to Twitter data and IBM will work with Twitter to develop solutions for specific industries such as banking, consumer products, retail, and travel and transportation. The partnership will access the tens of thousands of IBM Global Business Services consultants and application professionals.

IBM has created a dedicated site for the new partnership with more information about the new capabilities.
