Developer platform survey says iOS and Android still king, but RIM is catching up

Chances are you are a mobile developer reading that with one or more apps for iOS and Android published. But there is also a chance you could be a RIM developer with apps published as well, this coming from the results of a new survey 'Developer Economics Report'.

What!? You said RIM -meaning Blackberry? Yes, we said RIM. I think this can be largely credited to the up and coming release of BB10 which is attracting mobile developers looking for a new audience.

The report basically puts the developer platforms like this (in order from first to last), iOS, Android, Blackberry, Windows Phone, HTML, Symbian, QT, Flash, Java.

iOS is no surprise at 48%, Android coming in just under at 44%, but the surprise is Blackberry at 38%! Are you missing out as a developer not coding for RIM? You might want to check out the very latest BB10 is going to be offering because it's a very viable market and is clearly on it's way up. With the large following of BB mobile users already, when BB10 does hit devices I'll be watching for race to 2nd place under iOS.
