Areas threatened by Hurricane Michael get a free GPS tracking app

Posted on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 by AUSTIN HARRIS, Global Sales

Chirp GPS, the mobile GPS tracking company has released an update to their family, friends, and fleet tracking app today to help people prepare for the imminent threat that Hurricane Michael poses to Florida and surrounding states, as the storm grows closer and strengthens into a devastating category three Hurricane.

The new update allows Chirp GPS to activate the app free of charge in regions that are expecting life-threatening situations that could impact large groups of people so anyone in that area can download the app, and send location updates automatically to people they want to update - all free of charge using their advanced tracking.

In a statement from Chirp GPS's CEO, Richard Harris said

"When disasters strike, one of the worst situations imaginable is being separated from people you care about, and not knowing where they are in relation to the threat. By activating Chirp's "Life Saver" functionality in areas of threat, it allows us to help the people in the paths of disaster by letting them skip a trial period and get the full-blown version of our software, free of charge."

Chirp "Life Saver" works like this. If you are in a region that is going to be in a life-threatening situation, go to the App Store and download Chirp GPS (Find My Friends, Family, Events). Register in the region that is under threat, and you will be given an automatic 30 day free of charge install of the app. No credit card is needed, or any method of payment, period. After 30 days the app will be automatically downgraded to the free version of Chirp GPS.
