Appsfire to Discontinue App Discovery Unit to Focus on Mobile Advertising Efforts

Posted on Thursday, December 19, 2013 by STUART PARKERSON, Global Sales

If there is one certainty in live, things always change, sometimes that’s good and sometimes not so much. However, kudos to a company that realizes that they (and there customers) are better served focusing less on one offering and concentrating their efforts on others. And that’s what the folks at Appsfire are doing, discontinuing their efforts on consumer app discovery to focus on advertising and marketing offerings for app developers.

As the four year old company (a lifetime in the smart mobile device era) shift gears, it waves goodbye to its Appsfire app which will be removed from the iOS and Android app stores on Thursday, December 19th. Existing users will still have access to the app will which will still be maintained.

In its blog the company provides a number of rationales for the business move. One of the more poignant parts of the post is the discussion on the challenges the company faced operating an independent app discovery initiative within the major app markets. When its someone else’s playground, they make the rules, and sometimes its not much fun to play.
